Megan Anna Rapinoe was born on the 5th July 1985. She was born in Redding California. Her soccer skills were honed in her teenage years. Rachael was her twin sister with whom her went to the University of Portland together. Megan Rapinoe became a soccer superstar for the University of Portland, becoming one of collegiate women's soccer's best players. An injury to her knee left caused her to miss a portion of her junior and sophomore seasons. Then she returned to full-time soccer when she was a senior, and played playing in all games during the season. The University of Portland awarded her with a bachelor's degree in sociology, which she received in 2008. Rapinoe was selected to the Chicago Illinois Red Stars in the new Women's Professional Soccer WPS. She played with the team until it disbanded at the end of 2010. Following a brief time in The Philadelphia Pennsylvania Independence Rapinoe was sold to the Boca Raton Florida magicJack. She scored two goals in only eight games, helping guide the magicJack to a third-place finish in the league that season. At the end of 2011, the magicJack went under and in the early part of 2012, the same happened to WPS. Rapinoe played for Sydney Football Club FC in the Australian W-League for a couple matches before returning to America. She then played for the Seattle Washington Sounders Women (now the Sound FC). She played the 2013 season playing soccer in France. She was then a part of with Seattle Reign FC now OL Reign of the National Women's Soccer League NWSL created after the WPS split up. Rapinoe has also played at an international level. She was part of the 2012 U.S. Olympic women's soccer team that competed at London England. In those Olympics Rapinoe helped lead the team to a gold medal by scoring several game-winning goals or assists. She also competed in her second Olympics held in Rio de Janeiro Brazil, in the year 2016. The U.S. was knocked out of the quarterfinals during Rio. Her first FIFA Women's World Cup was back in 2011. Rapinoe's contributions enabled her to enable the U.S. Women's World Cup to claim two consecutive championships in the years 2019 and 2015. In 2018, she assumed the position of cocaptain to the U.S. team. Rapinoe scored two goals as United States beat Australia 4-3 in the bronze-medal game during the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Japan had been prevented from attending their participation in the Olympics until 2021 because of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
